Synopsis for Special Event: MADAGASCAR:
Q & A following the presentation. Donations will be accepted to support a solar panel for the hospital in Bli's home village Nosiariana.
Naysan McIlhargey grew up in Yellow Springs. He runs a local wood-fired pottery business here in town. His wife, Jalana Lazar, served as a Peace Corps volunteer from 1999-2001 in Madagascar. There she met Bli, who was then five years old. They have stayed in contact all these years and Bli is now here as an exchange student from Madagascar living with Naysan and Jalana. This event is meant to familiarize the community of Yellow Springs with the culture and ecology of Madagascar and also provide a personal connection, through Bli, who is a Yellow Springs High School Student. The presentation will last one hour with time for questions afterwards. It will include photos, music and video of Madagascar, Bli?s family and village.
Naysan, Jalana and Bli?s travels have inspired an interesting and educational presentation on Malagasy people, culture and ecology.
