ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Showcasing the best in contemporary, art and classic cinema since 1929, the Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs is one of the country’s oldest cinematic treasures. Now that the Little Art is a 501(c)(3) non-profit cinema, there has never been a better time to show your support. Please join our Friends of the Little Art membership program to help preserve this cultural gem for generations to come.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Small-town movie theaters are fast becoming just a memory. It is the support of the Yellow Springs community and the wider region that have enabled the Little Art Theatre to continue.
HOW YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
- Creates an annual baseline of financial support
- Helps to continue to provide quality film programming
- Contributes to equipment and infrastructure improvements
HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM
Jenny Cowperthwaite started working at the Little Art Theatre when she was just 15, and purchased the business in 1998. In 2001, facing an industry-wide decline in movie attendance, Jenny began Friends of the Little Art, an annual membership campaign. In 2009 she made another big decision — to transition the Little Art to a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity. By giving a tax-deductible donation, you can be part of the next chapter of the Little Art’s long and unique history as one of the nation’s oldest single screen movie theatres.
